Happy Birthday Scott

It was Scott's Birthday yesterday... here is how we celebrated!

I woke up around 9... got a few things done around the house, then woke Scott up to make him waffles!

As we eat waffles, we watched Elf!

Then we got ready for church... went to church. Can't let those Primary and Nursery kids down by not showing up :)

When we got home, Scott open his present that was hiding under the bed. As you can tell from the pictures, he was very shocked to see what i had given him. He asked for Guitar Hero - World Tour for Christmas but since he was expecting it, i thought i would give it to him for his birthday instead... throw him off a bit!

I love Scott's new vest. His mom gave it to him for his birthday. They had his birthday dinner last sunday for him.

After the gift opening, we had our friends Colby and Ashley over for dinner. I made chicken enchillads and chocolate cake with a oero creamcheese middle (Scott's requests).

And today is our 2nd year wedding anniversary! Happy 2 years Scotty!

I wanted to post this picture, because i looks nice outside. According to www.weather.ca the max temperature the day we had our pictures taken was -0.9C (but i swear it was colder than that) and today and tomorrow... well it's like -35C with the windchill!

19 Days Till Christmas

I haven't been that excited for Christmas yet... maybe it is the fact Scott is busy with studing for exams and I am busy finishing up my class and we both are still working. BUT i hope to get more in the spirit of Christmas as of tonight, last night helped too since we had our ward Christmas party. Scott is at school right now writing his first final exam. I have to make a little side note, that I find it a little odd that his final is on a Saturday night. It wasn't a weekend class or even a evening class. Weird!
Back to my Christmas talk... I had some running around to do this morning, had a baby shower to go to this afternoon and all evening i have been cleaning, doing laundry and putting the last Christmas touches up. My tiny condo looks in order again and now i can start to enjoy Christmas... hopefully.
I am looking forward to Thursday when Scott is done his exams for this semester and he has a break from school (but not from work). And on the 16th I am done my class and on the 23rd I have a break from work till January 5! Scott and I are planning some fun date nights for the holidays. Including, making ginger bread houses (I am most excited for that one).
We still have most of our Christmas shopping to do. So far, we have just done my parents. We have ideas, but need to go out and get the gifts.

My mom and dad where in town 3 weekends ago and I have to share my little gift my mom bought me in Okotoks. My goal this year was not to buy anything new for Christmas decorating, since i bought tons at Pottery Barn last Christmas when i worked there. SO i was glad for my moms gift to me! Thanks Mom!

Weekend Update

Scott and I had a wonderful weekend in Sherwood Park. I love going to visit home and seeing my family and friends. Another major reason i love going away is i get to spend time with my hubby. Scott normally works every Saturday, so when we go out of town i get my husband for a full day! Friday night we had a wedding to go to. My friend Sarah got married to a really cute Australian. I didn't take any pictures, but I found this one on facebook (hope you don't mind Colette). They are a very gorgeous couple. Sarah played professional Volleyball in Europe and he plays professional Rugby in Australia. Couldn't get more perfect than that! Congratulations Sarah and Chris.

After the wedding, we went over to our friends Breanne and Jordan's house. I have only seen their baby once before this weekend, so i was looking forward to seeing cute little Avery.

Saturday was shopping! Scott loves west ed, but due to lack of money we don't go to the mall very often. I think it had been almost a year since we went to West Edmonton Mall. Scott loves his abercrombie and finch. My parents gave him an early birthday present (money) to buy something new. We decided instead of clothes (Scott barely wears causal clothes anymore because of work) he was going to buy a nice lap top cover for his new lap top he ordered online the day before.

This was his early Birthday and Christmas present from me. Scott waited for me to get home from school on Thursday night so he could open it with me. The way Scott was so excited to open the Mac book, you would have thought he was like 5 years old on Christmas day.

Life

Life has been busy lately for us lately… Scott just finished his last midterm, and happy that the semester is done in a month. I started taking a night class a few weeks ago. It is a bookkeeping class…. And so far so good. Easy stuff since I already do the basic bookkeeping for my father-in-laws business.

My grandfather passed away a few weeks ago. Sadly I didn’t really know him that well, even though he lives in Calgary but on a good note, I did get to go visit my Grandma in her nursing home on Saturday. I think that was the first time I saw her for at least 5 years maybe even 8. She was cute, she was shocked at how big I had gotten, she is suffering with dementia, so she still thinks of me as a little girl. I was reading my grandfathers obituary in the herald and I learned more about him from that then I did over the past 24 years. Here are some highlights from the obituary…
WESTFALL _ Delmar Alonzo 1923 - 2008 God saw Delmar getting tired and called him home on November 4, 2008. Delmar will be sadly missed by his eternal loving wife and partner Helen; two daughters Wendy Debra (Edwin) Woolley of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Susan Michelle (Roy) Peters of Surrey, B.C.; a son, Grayden Michael (Kathy) of Temple City, California; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Bessie Westfall, by a son, Rodney Merrick and a brother Archie of Pueblo, Colorado, U.S.A. He was deeply dedicated to his faith and served in numerous positions and callings in the church - including Bishop of Calgary 4th Ward. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend. Delmar was raised and received his education in the Ross Lake and Jefferson areas of Southern Alberta. He finished his education in Calgary and worked for forty-four years in the head office in the insurance industry in the business administration section, besides attending advanced accounting classes for four more years. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of one's choice. At Delmar's request a private family Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

My grandparents in 1949

Dont know when this was taken, but still cute.

A death in the family really makes you think and makes you treasure the relationships we still have here on earth. I am grateful for my eternal loving husband and everything that he does for me. He works hard in school and gets basically an A in every class. Then he works on selling cars before school, after school and during school, to be able to pay for school. I am also extremely grateful for my parents and my sister and two brothers. I talk to my mom daily and she is such a strength to me. I also email my sister almost daily and I am thankful that are still close even though we live 3 hours apart. I am also grateful for Scott’s family. They live here in Calgary, so we see them weekly and it is great to have family here. I will admit that being with them sometimes really makes me miss my family and it is hard but times like that, I just tell Scott when he is done school we are moving to Edmonton. I love telling him that, because he gets this extremely nervous laugh… and doesn’t want to talk about it.

I am looking forward to helping my mom scan all her childhood pictures that are at her parents house. She was just a cute little girl with her red hair. I also got interested in family history this past weekend looking at all the pictures and records. I went to download the www.familysearch.org free program but cant find one for a Mac... does anyone know if they have one? Vinnie, you might know...

Anyways this is enough rambling for the day...

Back in the Day

I have been scanning my older scrapbooks from many years ago, back when i lived in Sherwood Park! I just wanted to post some high lights of those years. I use to scrapbook all the time, right after I took the picture... what happened to those days???
And just on a side note, the fire alarm keeps going off in my building, it is so loud and is making me go crazy. Some people might think... well get out of your condo, but the fact it goes off and then stops for a few minutes and then goes back off, i am assuming they are just testing it (well I hope that is the problem)!

And now for the memories... (more to follow as i scan more pages at work)!

Losing Wisdom... Teeth

Poor Scott had to be put under the knife Friday morning. Scott's mom took him for me so I didn't have to take the whole day off work, but I know they enjoyed the time together. I was hoping to get some good shots of Scott's before and after bruising and swollen cheeks, but nothing! He didn't swell at all. Oh well, here is a picture of us when I was taking the before shots.

Business Card Box

I saw this idea in a few different places and wanted to do it for myself. All the ones I saw where just a plain box, so i stepped it up a notch. I asked my dad to make me this box, I painted it white, covered it with paper, and made these tabs. They will hold all our business cards and i have cut scraps of paper to write down friends and family addresses. For now, since I don't have too many business cards, i found these marbles that matched and added them so the cards wont fall over.
Thanks Dad for making the box for me, I wanted to show you what it ended up looking like, so here it is!

New York... here we come!

I just finished booking our plane tickets to New York next summer. I know it is really far in advance but we are using our aeroplan points and the sooner you book the better flight you get. And Scott and I got an amazing flight with no stops and perfect departure times.
Scott went to Boston on his mission so we are planning on spending a lot of time in Boston as well, visiting all his favorite areas. My whole family is coming along, so that is very exciting too. My Dad also served his mission in the area, but back then it covered a lot more area that Scott's did a few years ago. My dad hasn't been back since his mission, I cant wait to see how amazed he is about how different everything is.

I am sooooo excited! We have 10 months to save A LOT of money... because this trip will cost A LOT of money!

Temple!

I am so excited that Calgary is getting a temple! I will admit that I was still sleeping on Saturday morning when conference started. My mom called to wake me up and told me.

I can't wait to start going monthly and making it like a Friday night date or Wednesday night.

I hope the temple looks like this one... San Diego! I have never seen this temple only pictures, but i have always loved it!

BUT because there is a temple 2 hours away and another one 3 hours away... it might end up looking like this... Edmonton Temple. BUT i love this one too, this is the one that i got married in and this is the one that i go to (well i went to Cardston once). I love the temple and the blessing it gives us!

Summerland, BC

Scott and I just back from Summerland BC on Sunday! I was such a nice relaxing trip. We got there late Tuesday night and spent every day on the beach. I read mostly... I was a little late getting on the Twilight Series so I had to start at book one and finished book two on the drive home! There was about 5 other girls at the beach with us that where on book four. I got a nice tan... well a nice tan for me. I had tons of freckles, but they always go away the next day.
And now for the pictures... well we didn't take any! I don't know what my problem was, I kept putting off getting batteries then I finally went. BUT then I just didn't take any pictures. Which is too bad because BC is beautiful. I will admit, I am just too self-conscious right now to have pictures taken of me. I have lost over 12 pounds in the last 2 months, but still got 16 more pounds to go. And because of that, I shy away from photos. People gain weight from having babies, I gain weight from just being married!

One thing Scott and I did decided is that we have found a new way of living! Take a look at the pictures of this place!
http://www.airstream.com/products/2008-fleet/travel-trailers/flying-cloud/index.html

We are going to buy one of these… we are thinking they are about $100,000. Which we would sell the condo and use the equity and live mortgage free! Isn’t it a great idea?

Now all we need to do in convince Scott’s parents to let us live in front of there house! We can plug into the house and if we wanted too we could just even shower at their house (even though there is a shower in the RV).
I think Scott is less serious than i am... haha, so we will see how our newest plan will actually turn out!

I found a picture on my camera from Summerland... one lonely picture!

I got this picture from the internet, but we did visit main street Summerland, almost every day. The reason for these daily visits... well there was this amazing bakery on main street. They had so many yummy everything. The favorite was this long john donuts that are cute down the middle and whip cream is adding like a sandwich. SO YUMMY!!!
