While in Arizona, I picked up some home decor fabric that was on sale at Jo-Ann Fabric's. My colors in my living room are red and medium green. Most reds don't look good on my dark couch (I won't go this dark next couch purchase) but I came across a pattern that I knew it would be perfect.
The green pattern is kind of a risky choice. But I saw it and then saw the price and thought, maybe one pillow in it for summer might be nice fun and different?! Bad choice?
I just sewed simple covers with a slit opening in the back.
A little hint that i have found. Use NICE pillow inserts when you are sewing your own pillow covers. Out of all the pillow covers I have attempted to sew over the years, they always turn out best if I use a Pottery Barn pillow insert! I am sure there are other really good inserts but I have yet to personally come across them. The Pottery Barn ones are very thick and are made with feathers... maybe that makes all the difference?
I bought at the end of the season sale last year outdoor pillows from Restoration Hardware. The pillows are blue with grey stripes, but due to the small outdoor living space in our rental, the only thing I have outside if a small bistro table and chairs set. These pretty pillows are too big for the chairs.
But the two matching pillows that have been on my couch (see below) over the last 8 months happen to also be outdoor pillows purchased at Superstore at the end of the season.
They are about half the thickness and a few inches shorter. Since the cover isn't removable, they have gotten pretty nasty on my couch due to baby spit up and food. I decided these would be the best cushions for outside. I went to our local one and only fabric store and started the hunt for blue and grey outdoor fabric. Mostly everything I could find was blue and brown. As I was about to leave I spotted the perfect fabric in the clearance section and the best part was it was only $7 a meter. Sold!
Any day now I am going to be attempting to plant some flowers in two pots I recently purchased at JYSK. Never planted flowers before (my mom did them for me but now I live 8 hours from here). Wish me luck!

Fabric
Curtains
I am no sewer, as I have previously blogged about here. But every once and awhile I do something that I am happy with... like my living room curtains!
I looked forever for curtains to purchase, but I couldn't find ones with enough color and pattern that I desired. I finally decided to buy fabric online and try to sew myself some lovely curtains. After I pressed and hemmed all the edges, I put up the curtains thinking I was done, only to see how bad they hung on the rod.
After going into our bedroom and seeing how my purchased curtains are sewed I realized I needed to add tabs onto the back of the curtain so they will hanging 100% better.
Way better!

5 Weeks
Exactly 5 weeks left till i am due! I am nervous and excited. I want him to come early but i think every mom does.

We also bought a car seat that weekend. We had a coupon for $30 off and in the end decided to go with a more expensive car seat (i only cared about the color, Scott cared about everything else).

We are getting more and more ready physically (I am not there emotionally yet). My parents come for the Easter weekend and helped out a lot. Sometimes i just need someone to hold my hand to motivate me to do this. My mom is this person!
My easter weekend goal was sewing baby blankets. I needed someone to just help me decided what fabric should go with what and also the size of the blankets and my mom was the person i needed. They left Sunday and on Monday and Tuesday i sewed all day (took those 2 days off work). I only have one more blanket to sew but i need to wash the fabric first and my washer is still broken (hopefully will be fixed this week). I messed up on a few of them, i sewed 8 in total, but hopefully anyone holding my baby wont notice and i am 100% sure baby wont notice!

I also bought a bassinet for the baby. I couldn't comprehend spending over $120 for the moses basket and then another $50 for the stand, so i went the cheap way and bought a plain basket and foam to go inside for less than $40!
Here is the start to my nursery, honestly this is the only corner i have done anything with yet... i decided to go with this owl pattern from Dwell Studio! It will show up more later with the crib, moses basket and a few blankets. The chair is big, i regret that but hope that if we have to move it will fit better in the new room. But it was cheap and my dad was kind enough to paint it white! My friend recovered the cushions and we bought the lamp just last night from Crate and Barrel! The little table and basket underneath came back with us from Arizona in February. I think the table was $10 from target and the basket was also $10.

Looking at this picture i really want to paint... i hope we find out soon if we are going to move away for school...
Nothing New
My visiting teachers came over this morning (who are awesome ladies by the way) and we got talking about our blogs... and i realized that i haven't updated it for a while. But nothing is exciting in our lives right now... so here is just a post of what i have been up to in my spare time. As most of you know I love decorating but we are trying to save up for New York this summer (which will be excited), so i have stopped buying new things and have attempted to try and update the old. These are my newest crafty projects....
Scott had this F in his room before we got married, so i made sure he brought it with him, when he moved in (other than his clothes, this was the only thing i think he bought). It use to be black, so i painted it white and added some blue paper to match our bedroom. I will admit, i messed up on the gluing of the paper the first time, so this is the second attempt.

I found this quote when we first got married and i wanted to add it to our bedroom in a cute way, at first i just put it in a frame, but a few weeks ago i decided to scrapbook it in a frame. It is also blue to match our bedroom.

This project i finished today. It is a pin board for my scrapbook room/office. I bought a cheap $30 mirror from ikea, took out the glass, bought cork from Michael's (with a 40% off coupon), mounted it on the cardboard the frame came in and covered with left over fabric from my apron. Now I just need to go and get some cute push pins.

This frame matches my other wire stuff in my scrapbook room perfectly. It was a great find. The wall color in the above picture is way off, as you can see from these pictures below, but i was too lazy to take it again.

Here is the apron i just mentioned, i got my friend to make me it around Christmas. I also got her to make one for my mother-in-law's Christmas present, but hers in blue flowers with strips instead of the dots. (All Amy Bulter fabric.) The picture isn't the best, but Scott is at work and i had no one to take the picture.

Well uploaded my pictures just now i found this one that Scott took of me. I remember him taking it and saying it was his favorite so far (he always takes pictures of me when I am sitting at my computer... he LOVES to bug me) but I never looked at it. I was busy focusing on working. I think the main reason he liked this picture so much was it had two of his favorite things in it. Me of course and a great shot of an apple computer.
