Front Facer

We have finally switched Boston to front facing. We could have done it along time ago but we didn't. He was so happy to be able to kick his feet!

Another Item Washed

Remember this post?? Well I decided to see how a diaper could hold up in the washer this time ;)

Hard to tell, but can you see all the tiny gel crystals all over the bottom? I will blame this one fully on Boston. OH and it was a clean diaper (i think)
I just washed the clothes again in hot water and it all melted and washed away!

First Day of Work

My man is officially a man with a job! I am so proud of him and how hard he has worked over the last 6 years (okay, he didn't work that hard until we got married... so make that 4.5 years... his words not mine).
He came home today with a headache. First day was a bit rough on him. He works this week and then has a week off for school and then back to work. He has a total of 3 weeks of school left this summer and then officially done the school part of his Masters.
Love you Scott!

New Pillows

While in Arizona, I picked up some home decor fabric that was on sale at Jo-Ann Fabric's. My colors in my living room are red and medium green. Most reds don't look good on my dark couch (I won't go this dark next couch purchase) but I came across a pattern that I knew it would be perfect.

The green pattern is kind of a risky choice. But I saw it and then saw the price and thought, maybe one pillow in it for summer might be nice fun and different?! Bad choice?

I just sewed simple covers with a slit opening in the back.

A little hint that i have found. Use NICE pillow inserts when you are sewing your own pillow covers. Out of all the pillow covers I have attempted to sew over the years, they always turn out best if I use a Pottery Barn pillow insert! I am sure there are other really good inserts but I have yet to personally come across them. The Pottery Barn ones are very thick and are made with feathers... maybe that makes all the difference?

I bought at the end of the season sale last year outdoor pillows from Restoration Hardware. The pillows are blue with grey stripes, but due to the small outdoor living space in our rental, the only thing I have outside if a small bistro table and chairs set. These pretty pillows are too big for the chairs.
But the two matching pillows that have been on my couch (see below) over the last 8 months happen to also be outdoor pillows purchased at Superstore at the end of the season.

They are about half the thickness and a few inches shorter. Since the cover isn't removable, they have gotten pretty nasty on my couch due to baby spit up and food. I decided these would be the best cushions for outside. I went to our local one and only fabric store and started the hunt for blue and grey outdoor fabric. Mostly everything I could find was blue and brown. As I was about to leave I spotted the perfect fabric in the clearance section and the best part was it was only $7 a meter. Sold!

Any day now I am going to be attempting to plant some flowers in two pots I recently purchased at JYSK. Never planted flowers before (my mom did them for me but now I live 8 hours from here). Wish me luck!

Eggs

I texted this picture to my friend and said "Hope this isn't a sign on how the rest of my day is going to go!" and she responded with "At least it wasn't your child!" Haha! Love good friends!

Fabric

I needed (yes I needed) fun fabric to recover my outdoor pillows. I was searching for blue, grey and yellow but couldn't find anything with blue and grey at fabricland (everything was blue and brown). Just as I was about to leave i found this beauty in the sale area. It doesn't have yellow but green was my second choice. Best part, only $7 a meter!

Shots

Boston had his 1 year shots today (I forgot to take a picture). My baby is not proportioned properly. Haha, but we still love him!

He was in the 75 percentile for head circumference (18.5 inches).
50 percentile for height (30.25 inches).
25 percentile for weight (20 lbs 11 oz).

Dishes

This is the number one fight in our house... we both hate doing dishes. I think Scott hates it more than I do but I do them more, so maybe I am just more use to it?? We have at least one more year of no dishwasher and one tiny sink. Wish us luck!

Nails

This is Scott's job... for some reason I can't cut Boston's nails. I have tried and I get no nail. Scott in the last 13 months of Boston's life Scott has cut them everytime other than two occasions when my friends Ashley and Rebecca did them for me. I think I need to learn??? Too bad I wasn't rich and I could take my kids for manicures every month ;)

West Elm Pillow

Happy Friday! It's pouring rain in Regina, but we are hoping it goes away so we can go out and play! I just pulled out the paint and going to start painting a few projects. If we can't go outside and have fun on a Friday, I might as well have fun inside!

While in Arizona I found a perfect pillow from West Elm that matched a throw I have from my days working at Pottery Barn.

It wasn't even on my couch for more than 24 hours when Boston found his first pen, figured out the click mechanism and drew on my brand new pretty pillow!
I quickly went online to find out how to remove pen from fabric. I tried it all... only to have it NOT come out and in the end the pillow looks even worse than if I had just left the ink. The color faded where I scrubbed and applied all the "guaranteed" household products.

My mother in law is headed back to Arizona in July and she said she would pick me up another one, but i'm still sad.

Next post, MORE pillows! But pillows that make me Happy!

Long Drive Home

We had to leave Calgary a few days earlier than planned to head back to Regina. Scott got offered a summer job and we had to get back for an interview. He is going to be working as a summer student for the same company that he is doing his internship with starting in September. I think they wanted him because he is so amazing that they decided to offer him a summer job and get a years worth (instead of 8 months) of his smarts and abilities :0

After a few hours packing our car to the max and then a trip to Chinook to get Scott an iPhone replacement (the sound went on his while in Arizona), a few last minute Bath and Body products and a couple Pottery Barn pillow inserts (the best inserts I have ever found for any home made pillows covers), we headed off to our home.

We have found that Boston falls asleep for a few hours and then is wide awake for almost the rest of the trip (about 8 hours). We also figured out that Boston is way happier with Dad in the back seat and not me. I drive and Scott sits back with Boston keeping him entertained.

About 2 hours out of Regina, Boston was getting very sad. We took our seconds stop at McDonald's and this one happened to have a play ground. Boston's first McDonald's Playground! There was this little girl, maybe almost 3 and her and Boston had so much fun playing together. Boston was a bit confused when the girl would climb up the steps and head down the slide. Didn't understand 1. where did she go?? and 2. why can't he go with her??

And we are back. Boston didn't go to bed till about 1 in the morning. He was just too excited to see all the stuff on the ground and the endless unpacking he could do. He was in HEAVEN!

Drive back to Calgary

After a nice long nap... Boston woke up and his ear looked like this!

Any doctors out there want to tell me if i should be worried about his weird ear? Lets go back to April 19, 2010...

His ear has always been off... way off!

Pointing and "Oooo"ing

Boston's newest thing is pointing and then making his lips into an "o' shape and saying ooooooo!
It is too cute. While in great falls eating at On the Boarder, every person and waitress that walked by he was doing this too. I was trying to get a picture, but once again, taking a picture with the iPhone and any movement is pretty hard.

Shopping

As many of you know, I love shopping. I was very limited on space to bring anything back. I was allowed only one check bag and that bag was to be shared between Boston and I. But I sure did some damage to our bank account even with the limited space (scott also purchased things). We did do a big shop in Great Falls at Target, Bath and Body and even Victoria Secret when we landed before we headed to the hotel to spend the night and that allowed for a whole truck full of shopping plus no tax (here we picked up everything from Honey Bunches of Oats, Cherry Diet Coke, Face Wash, Baby Food, ect)!

Oh and that was a horrible night in Great Falls. Boston just wouldn't go into the play pin, but really I couldn't blame him. It was the hotels and it looked horrible. He cried when I tried to put him in and then when I would take him out he would just hold on to me for dear life and fall asleep. Finally we padded the play pin down with pillows and I got him in asleep. BUT i didn't sleep a wink thinking he is going to suffocate because he was sleeping on pillows.

Anyways, I love shopping! Here are a few random purchases that I was able to find quick pictures of online (the shirts and ties aren't exact pictures, but we did buy a whole bunch of that stuff at Nordstrom Rack). I knew my mom would appreciate this post.

Mother's Day & Football

I think Boston knew it was Mother's Day! From the moment he woke up he kept hugging and hugging me. It was the sweetest thing! It really meant a lot especially since I had to ask Scott to wish me happy mother's day... haha! After church we went for a yummy dinner at the Fullmer's friends house.

My sweet boys outside the Urry's home!

These next few pictures are for my brothers. I think we have a future football star on our hands!

Family Photo

We all went to Cheesecake Factory, our favourite and Scott's dad was trying to take a family photo of the 3 of us... it is already hard taking a good picture with an iPhone with any movement, but add in a busy 1 year old and a waitress trying to talk to me.... well you get this!

Swimming in Arizona

We love Arizona. We love the sun. The perfect weather. The free place to stay. The car we don't have to Rent. The Shopping. The Pool. The Mexican Food. The People. The $1 Movie Rentals. The Beautiful Roads. The $400 flight for 2 adults and a lap child.

Here is a link back to our first trip to Arizona.

Our highlight of the trip was taking Boston swimming for the first time. You can tell by the sequence of photos that Boston wasn't sure at first of the water... then loved it and then finally found it so relaxing that he went to sleep!
